It was a very long week in the shop this week as Both the 44 car and the 13 car had transmissions problems last week. After pulling the transmission out of the 44 car who dominated the 50 lap feature the week before, Ivan was notified that all forward gears were blown, it was a miracle the car even finished the race.
After finally getting a transmission for the 13 car we spent all morning Saturday and most of the afternoon trying to get the car ready to race. That effort would come up short, and we would head out to help Bob and Ray for the night.
Bob would end up qualifying 3rd quick, and with it being autograph night and another feature to finish, there were no dashs or heat races. Ray would also do better in qualifying this week.
In the first feature Bob ended up with some front end damage after a driver tried pushing the 87 truck of Andrew Ritter in the dirt on the first lap. With no room the 87 truck made contact with the driver spinning him out in turn one. Bob got collected in the wreck and has some damage to the front end. Bob would drive a very tight race car the rest of the way and come home with a second place finish. Ray drove a good race as well and is showing a lot of improvement on the track.
The crew went to work on the 44 car to fix the damage and correct the push.
In the second feature Bob would make his way through traffic and after a caution, where he had another driver intentionally hit him. After the race went green, he would end up getting spun out by a driver who would make his way to the tail for causing the accident. Bob would take the lead at about half way, and we held our breath as a VERY FAST Steve casterline in the 10 car was coming fast. casterline would end up making the pass for the lead and looked to be on his way to his first feature win of the year. A late caution would set up a double file restart with 5 to go. Bob would get the jump on the 10 car coming to the green and take back the lead with 3 to go. The last lap is what short track racing is all about! Bob and Steve would bump and bang there way through 1 and 2, the 10 car went low in 3 and 4 and they both came out sideways out of four with Bob taking the win.
Andrew Ritter and Chris Garrett would also put on a great show for the fans for third and fourth as the guy who finished fifth tried everything he could to get by.
What happens in the pits stays in the pits so no comment!
I also just learned that the track was vandalized, if you have any information please call Ralph, Ryan or the police. |
