First Race at Kalamazoo Speedway

For those who couldn't attend, View the Pro Stock race from 5/1/2010 Here!

After finding out that Gary Howe had made an exception for Galesburg cars for this weeks opening at Kalamazoo Speedway. We decided to get the 13 car ready for its first run after being rebuilt. I have never ran at Kalamazoo and was just a little bit nervous about how we would do and if all the hard work this off season was going to show on the track.

Almost all of the most important people to me showed up to watch us at Kalamazoo and I was excited to put a good run together for all my fans and the very strong showing of Galesburg Speedway regulars.

In hot laps the car was very good but we sprung an oil leak from the valve covers and pulled in. The car was running great. Ivan and Bob got to work on fixing the oil leak and Ivan re-adjusted the Rockers and we thought we were ready to go qualify. We started the car and something wasn't right. Car wasn't firing on all cylinders. Ivan worked on it to try and find out why, but we decided not to risk it and not qualify.

After changing the coil the car fired up but still had a slight miss, we decided it wasn't to bad so Ivan changed the Jets in the carb to give us more fuel and we went out with the plan if it didn't clear up to just pull it in.

Once on the track I got the RPMs up and the miss went away. Since we missed qualifying we had to start at the back behind the inversion cars so I knew we had ALOT of work to get up front. We ended up making our way up to 10th when the first caution was thrown. On the restart I got some advice from Bob in turn 4 and moved up to the second groove. The car hooked up and we started moving our way to the front. We would end up taking 5th which I am happy with, I always want to win but after last year, just finishing the race was a victory.

I need to thank some people, first thank you to Gary Howe and Kalamazoo Speedway for allowing us to race, next Kalamazoo Speedway Pro Stock drivers you all were very friendly and raced very clean. Thanks to Brad and the entire VRT team for all of the help advice and encouragement you have given me, and Brad the setup was PERFECT. Ivan and Bob there's no way the car would have even been out on the track without you, THANK YOU! Thank you to all the drivers who have given me advice on Kalamazoo Speedway.

As for next week there's a million and one rumors going around about Galesburg Speedway. I'm not sure whats true and what isn't so were playing it by ear. If Galesburg is open the 13 car will most likely be there. If not we will be making the SMALL changes that need to be made to make the 13 car and the 44 car to conform to Kalamazoo Speedways rules.
